Just looking at this thing makes me sleepy . . . ::yawn::

< >Just a bit of promotion for the current Warner Brothers contest. They're gearing up for the April 11 release of the VHS and DVD of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. If you win grand prize, you get to be in the Prisoner of Azkaban movie! Most awesome. I've signed up.
< >And now for a story: I checked my P.O. Box last Thursday and there was a really long, thin package in my box. It was about fifteen inches long, three inches wide, and two inches tall. It had pretty/shiny (the best combination) stars on it and was sent from the United Kingdom about a fortnight ago. My first reaction was, turning it over, "What in the world?" so I looked at the customs label.
< >::faints:: I am now the proud owner of a wand. The Magic Wand Shop, Purveyors of Fine Enchantments since 1485, sent me "Magico Magnificus" - the witches' wand, charmed with "Feather of Peacock"! It's wonderful. Here's a link to what it looks like and the description. ::squeals:: This is so cool! I can't believe it!
< >The key to my heart is sending me stuff and look how nice they were! I've been swishing and flicking my magic wand and acting snooty like Hermione all weekend. My poor father has been Ron. "You're doing it wrong! Wingardium Leviosa!" Sadly, nothing's worked, but a girl can sure try.

< >J. K. Rowling gave birth to a baby boy today! His name is David Gordon Rowling Murray. I like it! Here's the article on Yahoo!News.
< >Ooh! I'm adding this at 5:47 PM: the word 'Muggle' was put into the Oxford Dictionary. This is only the third time the dictionary has been updated in its 146 years of existence. Here's the BBC article that talks about it. Can we all say JKR is having a good week? :-)

< >Sorry for the delay of this. BBC's Newsround released this today while I was in school. ::jumps up and down:: That's right, people, here are the covers for the two United Kingdom and the one United States of America covers of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! It's nice to have these come this week, in the midst of the war, I think. They've totally brightened my day, at least! Click on the images for a bigger version in a new window. Huge version of the US cover can be found here.

United States United Kingdom, Adult Edition United Kingdom
< >We're discussing the covers and the book due out 21 June on the forums. Feel free to sign up and talk about the book with us! Free E-mail is available here for those of you who don't have E-mail addresses and want to sign up for the message boards.

< >The Triwizard Tournament, along with its UKHarryPotter team, is no longer running. They've shut down and I'm quite disappointed, as I was really excited to be involved in the Tournament. Alas, the people running the sites do need lives and I respect their decision to leave. (I'll have to send them an E-mail today.) 'Tis very sad, though. ::sniffles::

< >The Realm is in full support of NasAlley, a publicity-based charity drive, coninciding with the work of Comic Relief (the registered UK charity that raises money for the poor and needy throughout the world, with a particular emphasis on African Nations). The focus-point of Nasalley is to concentrate and combine the donations of the Harry Potter fandom to Comic Relief for greater effect. Comic Relief's Red Nose Day is occuring today, the fourteenth of March, and I encourage you to check out Nasalley. Comic Relief, you may remember, gets proceeds and support from the two books Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages published in 2001.

< >Sad news hit over the weekend from Sean Biggerstaff's side of the Internet. Oliver Wood has been cut out of the Prisoner of Azkaban movie. Honestly, to me, this proves to me already that I will sit with my arms folded in the movie theatre and trying not to growl. I haven't updated until now because I've been searching around for petitions and sites asking Warner Brothers to bring the very important role of Oliver Wood back to the POA film. If you have any more, please E-mail them to me, and I will add them to the following list:

  • Bring Back Biggerstaff & the Broomsticks Petition
  • Bring Back Our Oliver! Bring Back Quidditch!
< >Thanks to the Potterish staff for sending me a link of their buttons which you can post on your site, online journal, or signature in a forum. Corrinne Thomas is helping to harrass the "WB until they cave" over at Boys and Broomsticks. Bring back Sean Biggerstaff!
    * In lighter news, fan art was updated with several new artists.

< >It feels like I took another February hiatus, doesn't it? ::sigh:: I occasionally need a break to just do other things, so I hope everyone understands! What have I been doing outside my Harry Potter life? Studying, mostly, and taking at least five tests and/or quizzes a month. In the Harry Potter life? Hanging out in the forums, writing fan fiction, blogging, and updating the fan art section. Happy day! It's back up. I'm obviously not finished, but there are lots of pretty pictures in there already!
